What makes Tim Farren stand out from the new wave of talent in Australian country music is the way he captures a live audience and leaves a lasting impression with a song. It’s a magic quality that audiences remember and keep coming back for.

Tim has worked at all aspects of his craft over recent years and is working hard on the business and promotion side of a career.

Tim attended the 2006 CMAA Australian College of Country Music, and achieved a 2006 and 2007, Toyota Star Maker grand finalist position.

Tim’s independently produced album, ‘Seasons of Change’, saw him awarded the ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’ and his album received 6 Top 10 nominations at the 2005 Victorian Country Music Awards.

Tim and his band continue to entertain crowds all over Australia. Tim and his band were awarded the 2007 – 2008 and more recently, the 2011 – 2012 and 2013 – 2014 Most Popular Band award at the Country Music Guild of Australasia. Tim was also awarded Most Popular Vocalist Award in 2009, 2012 and 2013 by the CMGA.

These successes have only inspired Tim to work even harder and he is now collaborating with some of the country’s best songwriters to find some fresh new songs as he works towards his new single, “Thankful” from his soon to be released album titled “We’re all in this together”.

His band consists of Helen Stewart on bass and Leo Dalton on guitar, both members of the ever popular “The Dalton Gang”. They have both backed artists such as Johnny Chester, Denise Morrison, Beccy Cole and Noel Watson just to name a few. On drums you’ll find Bryan Derrick who keeps himself busy drumming for the Tim Farren Band and in numerous other bands of many different genres. Dave Moore is a well recognised Pedal Steel player throughout the Country Music Industry. His dynamic steel playing sees him in very high demand backing many artists throughout Australia.

Tim and these highly experienced and talented group of musicians will ensure you are left with that lasting impression, keep your toes tapping and wanting more.

Mallory Darragh & Gerard Collins

Mallory and Gerard have been playing music all their lives. By combining instruments such as piano, acoustic and electric guitar, harmonica and percussion, a very unique and exciting sound is created. Between them, they have played all over Victoria and other parts of Australia in a variety of venues. Putting their own personal spin on current hits and creating their own rendition of classic songs, Mallory and Gerard are the perfect duo for any venue.

No studio gloss, no cheesy backing tracks, their arrangements are simple, yet beautiful and their performance style has already gained many fans.
Fronting the duo is the experienced vocalist, Mallory, who has performed for the past 15 years as an accomplished pianist and solo artist. On guitar, Gerard has a natural feel for music and is able to add a new dimension to all different styles of music, captivating the audience.
A live performance from Mallory is not something to be missed. Renowned for holding an audiences attention with confidence; her voice flows over intricate melodic lines with ease and sincere maturity – she compels and captivates effortlessly. It is rare for an artist to command with purely their voice yet Mallory reminds us of the beauty, strength and vulnerability in a performance free of cliché gimmicks and distractions.

Amber Lawrence

Amber Lawrence is an award-winning singer-songwriter whose career keeps going from strength to strength. With 2016 barely ticking over, Amber has managed to win Female Artist of the Year at the Country Music Channel Oz Awards, plus the people’s Choice Award for Female Artist of the Year, at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.  Amber was also extremely honoured to receive an Australia Day Bronze Achievement Award for her contribution to veterans and their families, via her work with DefenceCare. The awards keep rolling in for this hardworking Australian, who’s biggest career achievement to date was being awarded the iconic and prestigious ‘Female Artist of the Year’ award, at the 2015 CMAA Golden Guitar awards. This was quickly followed up with the Country Music Channel 2015 ‘Female Oz Artist of the Year’ Award.  This is the first time in history that a female artist has won both awards in one year.

In 2016, Amber has released not one, but two albums – the critically acclaimed 5th studio album “Happy Ever After”, and her high selling children’s album “The Kid’s Gone Country”.

Amber has released 18 singles over the course of her career to-date that have either reached #1 or Top 5 on the Country Music Radio Chart and the CMC Video charts.  She’s the winner of the “Telstra Horizon Award” (2010) and above all is well known for her fun and entertaining live shows!!

Sandie Dodd & Wild Honey

Up front is seasoned professional Sandie Dodd, an award-winning female vocalist who was lead singer of popular Vic band Ruckus for 10+ years. The band have rocked many a country crowd. Some favourites are the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Finley B&S Ball, The Power Ranch, The Basin Festival and heaps more. Their debut EP has received AirPlay all over Australia.
Wild Honey band members include Dan Ebbels on guitar who tours nationally backing top names in n the industry including Kirsty Lee Akers and Marie Hodson. His amazing talent is evident and he is clearly one of Australia’s best and most sought after guitarists. Geoff Stokes lends his wealth of experience on bass and plays with Trainwreck Trio and Thunder Road the Springsteen tribute show. Vic Hill on vocals, keys and Hammond has many years experience playing and song writing. Greg Ratten on drums has been in many successful bands and is also a former member of Ruckus.
With an extensive repertoire covering artists such as The Dixie Chicks, Gretchen Wilson, Carrie Underwood, Terri Clark, Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton, Reba McIntrye, Keith Urban, Big n Rich, Brooks n Dunne and too many more to mention. They take a mix of country classics with the best new country tunes and deliver their own fun, unique interpretation. Add to this their award winning original material.

Danny Stain

The Country music world has been waiting for Danny Stain to release his first single, since first dazzling them as a guitar slinging teen. The debut single “Working Overtime” debuted at number #3 on the Australian Country Track Charts and #2 On the Official Tasmanian top 20 Country music chart.

Growing up in Melbourne Victoria , from a young age he provided backing for countless local/international artists and stamped his virtuosic guitar sound on many great records.
His debut album “In Another Time” Will be released in November 2016 and has a classic sound that will take you back to the great country music lineage of yesteryear.

The Prairie Oysters

The Prairie Oysters were once described by Amazon Music as an explosive cocktail made up of a double shot of country, and honky-tonk and chased down with a shot of blues and rockabilly. This award winning band has been making friends
nationally and internationally since 2005 with their brand of country music that feature strong vocal harmonies, competent musicianship and polished stage presentation.
The band’s musical influences range from Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard to John Fogarty, Steve Earle and The Eagles to name but a few. Their repertoire of original material and cover versions, appeal to a wide audience, making country music accessible to people who wouldn’t consider themselves as country music fans.

The Prairie Oysters have earned their travel points over the years, performing to very diverse audiences around Australia; from Tamworth to Charters Towers, Melbourne to Darwin and even at the local club on the tiny Indian Ocean territory, The Cocos Keeling Islands.
The Prairie Oysters accolades include Best Album and Best Group at the Victorian National Country Music Awards for 2011, the $10,000-00 prize at the 2011 Australian Independent Artist Development Awards, and the Country Music Guild of Australasia Best Group Awards in 2007, 2009 and 2010.

They’ve travelled a few miles, raised some dust and continue to make a lot of people smile in the process.

Kaitlyn Thomas

Kaitlyn Thomas possesses an warm charming & smoky vocal, add this to her cool powerhouse driven performances and you get a multi talented artist.
A genuine & charming small town girl who has gathered an armful of highly coveted awards including the Australian Songwriters Association Youth songwriter of the year and  two-time winner of Australian Children’s Songwriter of the year for her age group.

Kaitlyn’s innovative vision, passionate ambition, natural born talent and genuine charm has quickly captured the attention of luminaries like Little Patty, Beccy Cole, Amber Lawerence, & Carter & Carter.

Receiving an endorsement from Maton Guitars Australia in 2016, Kaitlyn set off to Nashville where she performed at some of the most iconic venues: Bluebird Cafe’, Douglas Corner Cafe, Two Old Hippies & Honky Tonk Central.

She is a proud ambassador for the Bully Zero Australia Foundation and prides herself on giving back as much as she can with her music.  Her strong social conscience sees her spending many hours performing for various charities around Australia and the World.
Kaitlyn passionately immerses herself in all aspects of the music making process.  From writing, composing, performing and recording, she is continually exploring and evolving her sound – drawing inspiration from her own personal experiences.  Always eager to learn and grow, Kaitlyn often joins forces with other talented musicians, writers and producers.

Rodger was in the Dead Livers, Mick and The Aces and the Bona Fide Travellers, Mast Gully Fellers Silverstring Outlaws, Mick Hamilton played with Keith Glass and Gary Young as the bandGlass Hamilton Young”. Andrew and Ron often back Rene Diaz, Andy Baylor and Leslie Avril and Brent Parlane. Ed Bates has played with almost everyone .Andrew also is on the double bass with Moony Valley Drifters.

Rattlincane

Every now and then a band comes along that it is hard to put the usual labels on. RATTLINCANE is one of those bands. Three guitars, Pedal Steel, a driving rhythm section and lush harmonies give RATTLINCANE a sound that is full and rich. Some say it is country with a bit of rock, some say it is rock with a bit of country, we say it’s RATTLINCANE. Give RATTLINCANE a listen and you be the judge.

Nia Robertson (10.30am-12.30pm, Blue Dragonfly Cafe)

Nia Roberston is a Melbourne-base singer songwriter who writes with and almost biographical representation of life, love and family.

Her second album “the Woman I Am” lays her most personal aspects of life out before you. Currently preparing to enter the studio to make album number three – tentatively titled  “When I’m Gone” which is hoped for release later in 2017.

Nia has been busy co-writing with some of Australia’s best for this album and she is looking forward to giving a sneak preview of some of these gems at the Kilmore Country Music Festival.

 

 

The Long and Short of It (1.30pm-3.30pm, Royal Oak Hotel)

The Long and Short of It— are a multi-award winning duo from Melbourne whose well-rounded country sound consists of smart, non-formulaic songwriting, honest lyrics and superb harmonies. However, it’s their live show that has really seen the duo earn the adoration of fans and critics over the last 8 years.

Recent Awards include Southern Star Awards 2016 for best duo/group. TICMA award 2016- most popular duo/group.
Their last two albums have been recorded in Nashville with Emmy Award Winning producer, Kenny Royster.
“YOU MADE ME STRONGER” released in 2014, saw each single release reach Top 10 status in the Country Track Charts, indeed, “Fifty Bucks an a Case of Beer” sat at #1 for six weeks!
After that album, the duo wrote an all original uptempo, uplifting album. Kenny offered to co-write the album as he was impressed with the Aussie duo’s unique style and sound.
After 14 months of song writing via skype, the finished product, “THE NIGHT OF OUR LIFE” was produced. This album was released in late October 2016, and immediately jumped into the ARIA country charts at #5, and, ARIA Hit Charts at #3. Indeed, it is still in the TOP 20 ARIA CHARTS.
The first single release “Jesus Money” was successfully balloted in the GRAMMY awards, and the second, ‘KANGAROO RODEO” a first class hit  jumped to #16 in its debut week in the Country Tracks Chart and as of the last week in Dec has gone to #1.

COL Perkins artist

Col Perkins has been working in the entertainment field for over 45 years.  Starting out in the late-1960’s as lead singer/guitarist with the Gathering, recording and performing on shows like Turning On, Uptight, Happening 70 and 71 etc. In the 1980’s Col, along with another member of the Gathering, formed a group which specialised in setting the poetry works of ‘Banjo’ Paterson to music, that group is Wallis & Matilda, and they are still making that odd appearance in Tamworth and other country music festivals when the situation requires something that is uniquely Australian. Col primarily works as a solo performer nowadays, concentrating on tribute shows which include country legends John Denver, Glen Campbell & Kenny Rogers and also rock legend Cliff Richard, which includes the music of those early rockers Ricky Nelson, the Big O, Johnny O’Keefe and Col Joye.
